Wheat Farming Important Tips: It is too late to sow wheat, but experts say that if some things are kept in mind, wheat can still be sown. By taking care of these things, there will be good yield and there will be no impact of delay.
Palamu. Wheat cultivation is a good profitable deal for the farmers. In Jharkhand and Bihar, farmers cultivate wheat on a large scale in the Rabi season. Wheat sowing work is currently going on. The time for sowing wheat is considered to be till 15th December, but those farmers whose fields are not ready on time, can sow wheat even after 15th December.
Sowing can happen even after December 15
In fact, it is very important for farmers to have knowledge of the right technology in wheat cultivation. Many times, due to late harvesting of paddy, the field is not prepared on time, due to which sowing of wheat gets delayed. Dr. Akhilesh Shah, an agricultural scientist at the Regional Research Center in Chiyanki, Palamu district, told Local 18 that even if sowing is delayed, farmers can sow wheat after December 15.
If you sow late then more seeds will be planted
He further explains that if farmers are sowing wheat after December 15, then under normal circumstances 100 kg seeds are required per hectare, whereas in case of late sowing, the quantity of seeds should be increased by 25 percent to 125 kg per hectare. Due to this, the wheat crop is prepared well and the production is also almost good. Since sowing is being done late, it becomes necessary to increase the quantity of seeds.
Treat before sowing
He also said that wheat can be sown anytime, but seed treatment must be done. Just as vaccination is necessary after the birth of children, similarly seed treatment is necessary before sowing of any crop. This protects the crop from diseases, the seeds do not get spoiled and also provides protection from insect attack.
For this, mix a medicine called Saf at the rate of 2 grams per kg seed and dry the seeds about 4 hours before sowing, after that sow. This reduces the possibility of them contracting diseases and the crop remains safe.
