Canada Doctors PR: Canada has announced to start a new express entry route for foreign doctors from 2026. Now doctors who have one year of Canadian experience will get faster PR. The government is also providing 5,000 special seats and the processing of work permits will be done in just 14 days.

Now such foreign doctors, who are working in Canada, will be given an easy and fast path to direct Permanent Residency (PR). In fact, the health care system in Canada has been under heavy pressure for a long time. The shortage of doctors in hospitals has increased so much that in many places patients have to wait for months. The government has announced that a new Express Entry category will be introduced from the beginning of 2026.
Why was this category started?
The purpose of this category is that the doctors who are already treating patients in Canada should be given PR directly instead of keeping them on temporary visa, so that the health system can remain stable. It is not difficult to understand the new category. This new category is easy to understand. Canada is saying that if a doctor has worked in Canada for at least one year (12 months full-time or equivalent part-time) in the last three years, and is in an essential field such as a general physician, family doctor, surgeon or laboratory and clinical medicine specialist, then he can directly apply for PR. This means that doctors who have contributed to Canada’s health service will no longer have to go through the lengthy visa process.
5000 seats only for doctors
The government has taken another big step. Canada will now reserve 5,000 special PR seats only for doctors. On these seats, provinces will nominate doctors according to their needs by giving them job offers. The good thing is that as soon as the nomination is received, the doctors will get the work permit in just 14 days, so that they can continue working in the hospitals even while waiting.
