Nowadays unhealthy lifestyle is giving rise to many serious diseases. Diabetes is one of such diseases. The most dangerous among chronic diseases is diabetes. That is to say, diabetes gives opportunity to many other diseases to flourish. This is the reason that, according to the data of the World Health Organization, about 422 million people in the world are suffering from diabetes. Along with this, about 15 lakh people die every year directly or indirectly due to diabetes. There are mainly 3 types of diabetes. This includes type 1 (the body does not make insulin), type 2 (the body does not use insulin properly) and gestational diabetes (occurring during pregnancy).
type 1 diabetes when and what
Let us tell you that Type 1 diabetes is a condition in which the body almost completely stops producing insulin. Without insulin, glucose does not enter the cells and starts accumulating in the blood. This disease often appears in children and teenagers. It is called an autoimmune disorder, that is, the body attacks the beta cells of its own pancreas. Gradually the insulin level decreases and finally becomes almost zero. Sometimes a little insulin is produced in the beginning.
The immune system protects against viruses and bacteria under normal circumstances, but in type 1 it mistakes the beta cells for harmful ones. This is called autoimmune attack. In this process, immune cells gradually destroy beta cells.
Main cause of type 1 diabetes
Genetic predisposition is considered to be the biggest reason. If someone in the family has type 1, the risk increases. Some viral infections and childhood viruses can confuse the immune system.
Symptoms of Type 1 Diabetes
Initial symptoms include extreme thirst, frequent urination, rapid weight loss, increased appetite, dry skin, fatigue, mood swings, delayed wound healing and blurred vision. Vomiting and stomach pain may also occur in children.
Fasting blood sugar, PPBS, HbA1c and C-peptide test are done for identification. Autoantibody tests (GAD, IA2, ZNT8) confirm type 1. In case of DKA, ketones increase in blood and urine.
Ayurveda considers it to be due to puberty-related diabetes and metal-related decay. Lack of vigor, weakness of Agni and immune imbalance give rise to it.
Ways to prevent type 1 diabetes
Home remedies include keeping meals regular and light. Give lukewarm water. Reduce cold items and packaged foods. Do light yoga and stretching. Give enough sleep. For Ayurvedic support, medicines like Vasavaleh, Amalaki Churna, Guduchi Satva and Shatavari Ghrit can be given on the advice of the doctor. Remember the main treatment is insulin. Home remedies are only helpful.
