New Delhi. In the last few days, the weather was fine in many areas of North India including Delhi. People got some relief from cold wave and severe cold. But this week the chill has increased a bit. Now the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has given a new update on Monday regarding cold wave. The Meteorological Department has said that the condition of Sheetlahar is likely to subside from January 19. Because two western disturbances are likely to affect the western Himalayan region rapidly.
According to IMD, the first Western Disturbance can affect the western Himalayan region from the night of 18 January and the second Western Disturbance can affect from the night of 20 January. Due to this, the ongoing cold wave in North West India is likely to subside from Thursday. But before this, by Tuesday morning, there is a possibility of a drop of about 2 degree Celsius in the minimum temperature in many parts of North West India.

The Meteorological Department has predicted that cold wave to severe cold wave conditions will prevail in parts of Rajasthan, Punjab and Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi till January 18. On the other hand, there is a possibility of cold wave conditions in different parts of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar from 17 to 19 January and in Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh and Saurashtra and Kutch on 17 and 18 January. The IMD declares a cold wave in a region when the minimum temperature is 4.5°C above normal or when it falls to 4°C.
Dense to very dense fog is very likely at isolated places during night and morning over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim during January 16 to 18, IMD said. There is a possibility of dense fog in isolated areas of Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand during January 16 to 18. On the other hand, during January 16 to 19, there will be fog in Bihar. There is a possibility of dense fog in Odisha on 16th and 17th and in Assam, Meghalaya and Tripura on 16th to 20th January.
