Due to the snowfall on the mountains, the mercury has dropped in the plains and the suffering of winter is continuously increasing. From Delhi to UP-Bihar and Punjab-Haryana are in the grip of severe cold. The condition of cold in Jammu and Kashmir is such that the minimum temperature in Pahalgam fell to minus 11.7 degree Celsius on Wednesday. At the same time, the outbreak of cold wave continues in Delhi for eight consecutive days and the minimum temperature was recorded at 2.6 degree Celsius on Wednesday. According to the Meteorological Department (IMD), between January 21 and February 25, there will be a change in the country’s weather and there will be a triple attack of rain, snowfall and strong winds.
Rain, snowfall alert issued next week
The Meteorological Department has issued an alert for rain, snowfall and hailstorm amid the ongoing severe cold and fog in North India. According to the Meteorological Department, light to moderate rain and hailstorm with winds up to 50 kilometers per hour are expected in northwest India including Delhi next week. The IMD said that an active Western Disturbance is likely to affect Northwest India from January 21 to January 25. With this, once again the cold will increase in North India. Cold wave to severe cold wave conditions are expected in parts of Haryana and Rajasthan. Cold wave may prevail in parts of Delhi, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.

The Meteorological Department said that on January 19, there may be snowfall and rain in some areas of Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Uttarakhand. Apart from this, due to active Western Disturbance, it may rain from Delhi to entire North India from January 21 to January 25. According to the Meteorological Department, ‘Under its influence, rain or snow is likely to start in the western Himalayan region in the early hours of January 21 and continue till January 25 with peak activity on January 23-24.’ The Meteorological Department said that there is a possibility of light to moderate hailstorm at different places in Jammu, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, West Uttar Pradesh and North Rajasthan on January 23 and 24.

Meanwhile, in Rajasthan, the night temperature in Fatehpur, Sikar, Churu and Karauli went below the freezing point and the cold wave continues in the entire state. The outbreak of severe cold continues in Punjab and Haryana as well. The minimum temperature remained below normal in most areas of the state. According to the Meteorological Department, there is severe cold in Bathinda and Faridkot of Punjab. The minimum temperature here was recorded at minus 0.2 degree Celsius and minus 0.5 degree Celsius respectively.
Severe cold wave for the second time in 10 years
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), severe cold wave prevailed in Delhi from January 5 to 9, which was the second longest period of severe cold wave in this month in a decade. It has not yet rained in the winter season in Delhi. On the other hand, the minimum temperature in Kashmir fell further below the freezing point while the Meteorological Department has predicted rain and snowfall from Thursday. According to the Meteorological Department, wind will blow at a speed of 50 km per hour in North India including Delhi and it will rain between 23 and 25 in Punjab, Haryana to Chandigarh, UP, Rajasthan. The Meteorological Department says that the strong Western Disturbance in November and December was the reason for the lack of rain.
