Today Weather News: Cyclone Senyar, far below the Bay of Bengal, almost near the equator, is baffling meteorologists. On one hand, the possibility of its rapid strengthening has increased the possibility of heavy rains in the eastern coastal region, while on the other hand, there are reports of it weakening and shrinking into the sea. However, its effect will start from today and is likely to remain on Tamil Nadu coast till December 1. The system began as a low-pressure area over the Strait of Malacca and the South Andaman Sea, but has now evolved into a deep cyclonic circulation forming in several atmospheric levels. As it is moving in a west-northwesterly direction towards the south-eastern Bay of Bengal, warm sea water and favorable weather conditions are helping it to intensify further. At the same time, cold has started in North India. According to the latest report of the Meteorological Department, the minimum mercury has reached single digits from Punjab to Bihar. There is a possibility of change in weather due to rain in Bengal due to fresh cyclonic activity in the Bay of Bengal. Due to severe cold in Punjab, the Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert.
Many possibilities are being expressed regarding Cyclone Senyar. On one hand, it is estimated that due to being close to the equator, it is likely to end below Indonesia and Sri Lanka, while on the other hand, the possibility of heavy to very heavy rain has increased in many southern states from November 25. The possibility of heavy rain, thunder and winds at a speed of 50 to 70 kilometers has increased in Andaman and Nicobar Islands from 27–29 November. The Meteorological Department said that heavy rain is expected in Tamil Nadu between December 1st. Moderate to heavy rains will continue in Kerala and Mahe. Rainfall will increase over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam from November 29 and very heavy rainfall may occur on November 30. There is a possibility of high and strong waves in the sea in Lakshadweep. Along with this, the sea water will remain turbulent and rain will continue. At the same time, there is a possibility of light to moderate rain in Odisha today and heavy rain at some places. Due to the effect of Senyar, the weather has already started deteriorating. Due to heavy rains since this morning, waterlogging has increased in Tirunelveli, Tuticorin and other areas of South Tamil Nadu, causing problems on roads and residential areas.
