Dehradun News: Loco pilots are sitting on a collective fast at Dehradun railway station regarding their demands. These loco pilots, who run trains without eating food, are protesting on issues like increase in allowances, lack of rest and no toilet in the locomotive.
Dehradun: Train is the most convenient means to transport common people from one city to another. But the loco pilots who run them face many difficulties every day. About 70 loco pilots of Doon Terminal are protesting at Dehradun Railway Station regarding these problems and unfulfilled demands. The big thing is that these loco pilots are not boycotting work. They are running trains while hungry and joining the protest after their duty is over.
In this movement going on under the banner of All India Loco Running Staff Association, the loco pilots clearly say that the Central Government has increased the allowances of all the central employees by 25 percent, but there was no increase in the allowance of the loco pilots. The biggest problem with this is that there is no toilet facility in the locomotive. Because of this, women loco pilots face the most problems. Loco pilots say that lack of rest also affects the safety of the train and passengers.
Sakram Meena, executive president of All India Loco Running Staff Association, Moradabad division, said that many loco pilots are on a mass fast. They are operating the train without eating food and are also fulfilling their responsibilities. They are devoting their spare time between duty and leave to protest.
Major demands of loco pilots
Sakram Meena said that the demands of All India Loco Running Staff Association are clear.
Loco Pilots want to:
, Kilometer allowance and TA should be increased by 25% from January 1, 2024 and arrears should be paid.
, 70% of kilometer allowance should be exempted from income tax and the limit of Rs 10,000 should be removed.
, The running staff should get 46 hours of weekly rest, so that no accidents occur due to fatigue.
, The punishment of ‘removal from service’ imposed in case of accidents should be abolished.
, For safety, the maximum time of duty in one stretch should be fixed at 8 hours.
, Old pension should be restored by abolishing NPS and UPS.
, Reduction of hours in the name of sister lobby should be stopped immediately.
Loco pilots say that for the safety of the train and passengers, it is necessary to solve their problems immediately.
