An official of the Kakatiya Heritage Trust on Saturday alleged that Union Culture Minister G Kishan Reddy did not allow the Ramappa temple near Warangal in Telangana to hold a dance ceremony because of the participation of legendary dancer Mallika Sarabhai. . Trust’s founder trustee BV Papa Rao said that the organization, however, organized the event on Saturday but it was held at a different place in Warangal city. Rao claimed that the famous Ramappa temple is a UNESCO heritage site and the trust applied to the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) for permission about two months ago in view of the ‘Rampappa festival’ at the temple. While in Warangal, Mallika Sarabhai said that it was unfortunate that the incident took place because of her ‘personal political opposition to Hindutva’. Sarabhai said that he and his group agreed to hold the program outside the temple.
