Schemes For Homestays In Uttarakhand: If you are dreaming of starting your own homestay in the mountains, then the Uttarakhand government has brought a golden opportunity for you. Under two powerful schemes of the state, those opening homestays can get a subsidized loan of up to Rs 15 lakh. In such a situation, your dream of opening a homestay in the mountains can easily become a reality.
Nainital : Uttarakhand government is now promoting homestays on a large scale to increase employment in the mountains and to prevent migration. It is the result of the initiative of the Tourism Department that today more than 6 thousand homestays have been registered across the state. Under these schemes, not only financial assistance is being provided, but homestay operators are also being provided training in hospitality services, management and marketing. On one hand, this gives the tourists an opportunity to stay at affordable rates and get to know the culture of Uttarakhand closely, while on the other hand, the local people are also getting permanent self-employment.
Nainital district tourism officer Atul Bhandari says that 909 homestays are registered in the district, which is the highest in the entire Uttarakhand. Apart from this, 995 hotels, resorts and tent colonies are also operating in the district. A total of 660 new units have been established in the last 5 years. These figures clearly show that the tourism industry is expanding rapidly and opening new avenues of earning for the youth.
Will get loan up to Rs 15 lakh
According to the Tourism Department, the state government is running two major schemes to increase tourism based businesses. The first is Veer Chandra Singh Garhwali Tourism Self-Employment Scheme, under this scheme, subsidy of up to 33% is given for starting homestay, resort, restaurant, cafe and adventure activities. Due to this, the initial investment of the youth reduces significantly. The second one is Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Home Stay Development Scheme, under this a loan of up to Rs 15 lakh is available for homestay construction, out of which 50% amount is borne by the government in the form of subsidy. The application process has also been simplified, so that more people can take advantage of it.
Giving flight to the dreams of tourism and youth
Homestay is not just an accommodation facility but also a medium to closely showcase the tradition, food and rural lifestyle of Uttarakhand. Tourists go here and experience the real hill culture, thereby preserving and promoting the local culture. These government schemes are giving a new boost to both the tourism of Uttarakhand and the self-employment of the youth.
