New Delhi. If you have to go out of Delhi and do not want to travel through the expressway, then there is no need to worry. You will have other options also. The national highways going out of Delhi are being repaired, so that vehicles can travel here like expressways and reach their destinations in less time.
There are many expressways going out of Delhi, some of which have already started and some are about to be built. However, to travel through these tolls one has to pay toll. To travel on expressways which are not of NHAI, one has to pay higher toll. But NHAI is giving such drivers the option to travel at low cost.
Which are the expressways from Delhi?
At present, it is limited to Delhi Meerut Expressway, Agra Expressway, Delhi Mumbai Expressway (not fully operational yet), Delhi-Dehradun Expressway (from Delhi to EPE). There is Amritsar Expressway from Delhi (up to Punjab border). Drivers use these expressways to go out of Delhi. In these, vehicle drivers have to pay toll. Because the entry and exit are from less places, in such a situation, if a driver has to travel a short distance, he has to pay the full toll, which sometimes becomes heavy on the pocket.
What is NHAI going to do?
NHAI and UP government are going to repair the national highway connecting to Delhi, so that the drivers have other options along with the expressway. Under this, the Yogi government has given the green signal to the repair and beautification of the 7 kilometer long stretch of Delhi-Saharanpur-Yamunotri road. About Rs 32 crore will be spent on this project starting from January 2026. With this, apart from Delhi, travel to the western districts of Uttar Pradesh will become easier. Similarly, NHAI will repair the NH going towards Agra and Jaipur via Aligarh, Faridabad, so that people can travel at a lower cost than the annual pass of NHAI.
