Gorakhpur: These days, the work of filling the SIR form is going on at a fast pace in Ward No. 34, Vishwakarma Puram of Railway Colony area of Gorakhpur. Be it harsh sunlight or mild cold breeze, BLOs are continuously working hard to help people fill the forms. One of these names is that of Sandhya Pandey, who is fulfilling this responsibility not just for work but with a sense of duty and social service.
Sandhya, who leaves home at around 9, 10 in the morning, spends the whole day roaming around the ward filling forms. Then after some time, she spends a long part of her day sitting on a simple chair and table placed on the roadside in a corner of the ward. During this time, some elderly person comes, some laborer, some educated youth, she is patiently ready to help everyone.
Countless challenges hidden behind work
While talking to the team of Local 18, Sandhya says that many people leave by giving wrong mobile numbers. Many people fill the form wrongly and there are many who have left the ward and settled somewhere else, but still keep coming and asking for information. Amidst all this, they have to explain to every person again and again, so that the form can be filled correctly.
Unwell for last several days
Sandhya says that her health is not well for the last several days. Even though she is on medication, she is doing duty continuously from morning till evening. Officials say that one should work after taking medicine, but it is not easy to fulfill the responsibility even with pain. Sometimes the fatigue increases so much that her body starts responding, yet she still works.
Part of every house’s story and expectations
Sandhya also tells that the ward councilors help many times, but the real challenge is to make every person understand and fill the form correctly. This work is not just about the name or number written on paper, but is a part of the story of every household and their expectations. This picture of Sandhya sitting on the roadside is not just the story of a BLO. Sandhya says that this kind of challenge is not only in her work but almost all the BLOs are facing it, but still it is very important to fill and get the SIR form filled.
