Now every year the police in the village pick up the sacrificed goats before Bakrid and return them only after three days after the festival is over. Full care is taken that no one should sacrifice on Bakrid. This happens only in the small Mushara village of Sant Kabirnagar. It will sound a bit strange to hear but this is the truth.
Things got worse after the sacrifice in 2007
Musahra village falls in the Dharamsinghwa police station area of the district. According to the local people, there was never any sacrifice on Bakrid in Musahra village and there has always been a ban here. There was no such thing then. People used to make sacrifices in other villages. But in 2007, at the behest of former MLA Tabish Khan, the village was sacrificed. After this there was a lot of ruckus here. The matter increased so much that from looting to arson and sabotage. To control the violence, the police had to roll big papads. Since then, strictness started regarding sacrifice.
Now every year on the arrival of Bakrid, the police force and PAC are deployed there for security. The police reach the village a day before Bakrid and capture the sacrificed goats and imprison them in a madrassa or government school built near the village. The goats are returned to their owners three days after the end of the festival. The district authorities keep an eye on this matter. To ensure that there is no violence in the village, the police bring goats so that the ban on sacrifice remains intact.
Muslim side’s argument
The people of the Muslim side of the village told that they want to sacrifice, but the police and the people of the Hindu side of the village do not allow them to sacrifice on Bakrid. In this case, instead of helping the police, their goats are imprisoned for three days. Goats are returned three days after Bakrid is over. Even in the possession of the police, the owner has to take care of his goats and no receipt is given for it that people can identify their goats.
However, it is also worth noting that out of 365 days in the village, goats are slaughtered and sold in the market for 362 days, but no one has any objection to this. Just three days of Bakrid, goats are not allowed to be slaughtered. Goats are imprisoned so that no one bites secretly.
Hindu side argument
The Hindu side said that no new tradition would be allowed to be formed. The argument and claim is that when the sacrifice has been happening at a place outside the village, then why was the sacrifice done in the village? According to him, when the sacrifice was not allowed on Bakrid, then the people of the Muslim side created a controversy by telling the land to burn Holika as graveyard land and for the last few years, the burning of Holika also stopped.
festival brings stress
It is not that efforts have not been made to remove these tensions, but both the sides are adamant on their insistence. Every effort was made for reconciliation but those people are not ready to accept it. As the people of the village have now decided that they will not allow each other to celebrate the festival. Overall, due to the lack of mutual understanding and harmony, the happiness of this village has remained imprisoned in homes. Festivals of happiness also bring stress with them.
SDM and CO arrived in Musahra to convince both sides
In view of Bakrid, SDM Ajay Kumar Tripathi and CO Ambrish Kumar Bhadauria, who arrived at Mushara in Mehdawal on Sunday, explained to the people of Hindu and Muslim society and appealed to make peace. He said that no exemption will be given for the new tradition of Bakrid here, which can lead to controversy. According to the old tradition, people will celebrate the festival of Bakrid. The police administration is fully alert in view of Bakrid in Musahara village of the district. Two days in advance, the police guard intensifies and there is silence in every street of the village.

According to the old tradition, goat sacrifice is banned. He said that there is no new tradition of any kind from the administration side, due to which the dispute can increase.
