The central government is considering the inclusion of Coronavirus in a specific disease. With this, taxpayers can get the benefit of Income Tax Exemption on the expenses incurred on Covid-19 treatment. The Central Government can declare this relief under 80DDB in the budget.

Tax exemption on expenses up to Rs 1 lakh
According to sources, it is being considered to include Corona in a specific disease. It should be clear here that this exemption in income tax will be given only to those who do not have any health policy. It is believed that tax exemption on treatment of corona can be started from the current financial year. Tax Deduction can be obtained at the cost of maximum 1 lakh rupees for treatment. According to sources, this exemption can be used for both (Self) and Dependent. Right now this exemption applies to more than two dozen diseases including cancer.
