Predicting snow in the UK is very difficult.
Partly it will depend on exactly how cold the air moving across the UK is, but the other necessary ingredient is precipitation – something that falls from the sky.
At the moment it looks like most places will be dry on Christmas Day, which will be welcome in areas that have recently seen heavy rain, such as Cumbria and South Wales.
However, some computer weather models are hinting at some wet weather moving across the Channel Islands and possibly extending to the southern tip of England.
If this were to happen, it could mean that some sleet or snow would mix in, especially on high ground.
Heavy clouds moving towards the east of Scotland are also likely to produce some light snow flakes over the hills and mountains.
So the chances of a white Christmas are low, but not zero, and you can stay up to date on any changes to the forecast on the BBC Weather website and app.
