New Delhi. TVS Apache RTX has received the title of Indian Motorcycle of the Year (IMOTY) 2026, which is considered to be the most prestigious honor of the Indian two-wheeler industry. This award reflects TVS Motor Company’s continued focus on innovation, performance and rider-centric engineering. Also, this is the company’s third IMOTY title so far. TVS Apache RTX won this award after a tough competition, in which Ultraviolette X-47 stood second and KTM Adventure 390 stood third. This year many other great motorcycles were also involved in this race.
How was the winner chosen?
Dr. Raghupati Singhania, Chairman and Managing Director of JK Tire and Industries, handed over this award to Vimal Sumbli, Business Head Premium and Head Premium Marketing, TVS Motor Company. The Indian Motorcycle of the Year is seen as a two-wheeler version of the Indian Car of the Year and is chosen by a panel of 16 experienced automotive journalists. The jury of IMOTY 2026 included Auto Today Deputy Editor Rahul Ghosh and Assistant Editor Abhinav Jakhar and many others.
How are points awarded?
Each jury member was given 25 points, in which only a maximum of 10 points could be given to any one motorcycle. The jury members were required to distribute their points among at least five shortlisted contenders, so that fairness, transparency is maintained and the influence of any one’s personal preference is reduced. Apart from the eventual winner, the IMOTY 2026 shortlist included several new motorcycles, such as the Royal Enfield Classic 650, Ultraviolette X-47, Honda CB125 Hornet, KTM Enduro R, KTM 390 Adventure and the Yamaha XSR. It is clear from this that options are continuously increasing in different segments and price ranges.
Awards started in 2007
