The media office of Turkish President Rechap Tayyip Erdogan has boycotted the social media platform WhatsApp.

According to a Bloomberg report, President Erdogan has ordered the transfer of his WhatsApp groups to the encrypted messaging app BiP on 11 January. BiP is an encrypted messaging app from Turkey, owned by Turkcell Eletissim Hizmetleri AS. Now all people will be given information from the President’s Office and Ministry of Defense through an account created on BiP. After the president announced to leave WhatsApp, the voice against this American social media company in Turkey has become louder. People in Turkey are joining BiP app fast except WhatsApp. Turkcell company said on Sunday that in the last 24 hours about 1 million (1 million) new users have joined BEP Messenger. Turkcell said that the application has been downloaded more than 53 million times since its launch in 2013.
