India Export Growth: Despite the tariffs imposed by America on India, there is a surge in Indian exports. The Commerce Ministry has informed the Parliamentary Committee that India’s outbound shipments between April and October are showing growth as compared to the same period last year.
Which simply means that India has shown strength in export matters. Due to which positive signals are being given regarding the strategies of the Central Government. Continuous talks are going on between India and America regarding the tariff issue. However, till now no results have emerged even after several rounds of official meetings. Commerce Secretary Rajesh Aggarwal said during the meeting of the Parliamentary Standing Committee that the tariffs imposed by America have not seen any major negative impact on India’s exports. During the meeting, the Ministry has expressed confidence that the country is fully capable of maintaining growth in exports due to domestic products and strong supply chain.
The meeting was chaired by TMC MP Dola Sen. During this, questions were also raised from many members. He asked, despite being India’s partner country, what is the reason behind America imposing tariffs?
Concerns expressed regarding these sectors
During the meeting, complaints also came from other industry boards including coffee, tea and silk. Members said that these sectors are not getting proper opportunities in the global market and at the same time exporters are facing pressure due to increased prices due to American tariffs. The members also expressed their views on the strength of the dollar and the falling rupee.
The members also drew the committee’s attention to the problems being faced in import and export due to changes in the value of rupee. On all these complaints, the Ministry said that all questions and complaints will be answered within two weeks. The next meeting of the committee will be on 16 December.
