High blood pressure patients should protect themselves in cold. In Bhagalpur, Dr. Veer Prakash Arya has advised such patients to adopt garlic, Arjun bark, warm clothes and light food. This can keep BP under control.
Bhagalpur. While on one hand the cold weather gives comfort, on the other hand this season also becomes a challenge for the patients suffering from high blood pressure (BP). With the drop in temperature, the veins of the body start shrinking, due to which there is a possibility of increase in blood pressure. In such a situation, doctors are advised to take special caution. District Desi Medical In-charge Dr. Veer Prakash Arya has given many important suggestions for high blood pressure patients in winter.
go for a walk after the sun comes out
Dr. Arya says that cold morning and cold wind have a direct impact on patients with high BP. Such patients should not go out of the house without exposure to sunlight, because sudden exposure to cold can cause blood pressure to rise rapidly. He told that one should avoid walking in severe cold early in the morning, doing exercise or going out in strong wind. Instead, taking a light walk after the sun comes out is safer for health.
Garlic improves blood circulation
The medical in-charge has also described home remedies as very effective. According to him, garlic is no less than a boon for high blood pressure patients. Garlic improves blood circulation and reduces pressure caused by cold. Consuming garlic regularly in the morning on an empty stomach or with food helps in controlling BP.
Beneficial for heart related diseases
He told that a special indigenous remedy, the bark of Arjun tree, is very beneficial for people suffering from not only hypertension but also heart related problems. In Ayurveda, Arjun bark is considered a tonic for the heart. Consuming its decoction improves the functioning of the heart and also provides relief in many types of cardiac problems.
Protect yourself in these ways
Dr. Arya advised that high BP patients should use warm clothes during cold weather, take medicines regularly and avoid exposure to sudden weather changes. Include light, digestible and hot food in your diet and stay away from stress and irregular routine. Thus, with a little caution and regular use of some home remedies, high blood pressure patients can comfortably pass the cold season without any major danger.
