IndiGo Crisis: After the recent major operational disruptions in domestic aviation company IndiGo, the management is now focused on handling the situation as well as strengthening the company again. IndiGo Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Peter Elbers said in a video message released to employees on Thursday that after the initial shocks, the company is now gradually returning to stability. Also, the next step is to thoroughly review the root causes and ensure that such a situation does not reoccur in the future.
Indigo is recovering after the shock
He said that after stability in operations on December 9, Indigo has started strengthening its network again and now around 2,200 flights are being operated daily. According to Albers, the company’s priority is focused on three important points – further strengthening IndiGo, conducting an independent analysis of the root causes of the recent crisis and thereafter ensuring a strong comeback.
In this direction, the Board of Directors has appointed an external aviation expert, who will conduct an impartial investigation into the entire incident. The CEO also said that he himself will visit various locations with the leadership team and will directly communicate with the employees who worked at the ground level during the crisis and faced immense pressure.
CEO’s message to staff
It is noteworthy that due to the inability to implement the new rules related to duty time and rest of pilots on time and shortage of staff, Indigo had to cancel thousands of flights between December 1 and 9, due to which lakhs of passengers had to face problems.
A DGCA committee has also been formed to investigate the matter, while the government has reduced IndiGo’s existing winter flight schedule by 10 percent as a precautionary measure. Overall, IndiGo management claims that by learning from the crisis, the company will further strengthen operational efficiency, human resource management and regulatory compliance, so that passenger confidence can be fully restored in the future.
