Lucknow-Bhopal Expressway: Lucknow-Bhopal Expressway will reduce the travel time between the capitals of UP and MP from 15 hours to just 7 hours. This 600 kilometer long mega project can be ready by the end of 2026.
Lucknow-Bhopal Expressway: Traveling between Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh is now going to be faster, easier and economical. The work of connecting Uttar Pradesh’s capital Lucknow to Madhya Pradesh’s capital Bhopal is going on. The 600 kilometer long expressway being built under the name Lucknow-Bhopal Expressway will reduce the travel time between the two cities to just 7 hours. Currently, it takes 15-16 hours to reach Bhopal from Lucknow by four-wheeler. Work is going on at a fast pace on this expressway. After its completion, people will be able to enjoy fast travel on this expressway in their vehicles.
How will travel change?
According to reports, this expressway will be connected to three different highways.
- Kanpur-Kabrai Highway
- Kabrai-Sagar Highway
- Sagar-Bhopal Highway
All these will be 4 to 6 lane highways and will provide high speed connectivity to Sagar in Madhya Pradesh and then to Bhopal via UP-Bundelkhand. According to officials, this expressway is being developed on the lines of Yamuna Expressway. Under the project, a 124 km long new highway is being built from Nobasta (Kanpur) to Kabrai. A bypass is also being prepared in Kabrai so that heavy traffic does not have to go to residential areas.
When can the expressway open?
Although the official timeline has not been announced by the government yet, but according to various reports, the work on Lucknow-Bhopal Expressway can be completed by the end of 2026 and it is set to open in the beginning of 2027. However, these dates have not been officially confirmed. With the opening of this expressway, not only will travel be easier but it is also expected to boost trade, employment and logistics sectors in both the states.
