Explain that Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank and Women and Child Development Minister Smriti Irani launched Toycathon 2021 on 5 January. Toycathon 2021 was divided into three categories
Toycathon 2021 was divided into three categories of junior, senior and startup. Schools, from college to university students could participate in it. The size of the country’s toy market is more than 1 billion dollars, out of which 80 percent toys are imported. Toycathon is an effort by the government to create a system for the domestic toy industry and local manufacturers, which can promote domestic industry by exploiting the unutilized resources. Government promoting domestic toy industry
In this joint initiative of many ministries, 9 themes like fitness, sports, traditional toys were laid. On the beginning of Toycathon 2021, Union Minister Smriti Irani said that India imports 80 percent of toys. The government is working towards promoting the indigenous toy industry to make the country self-sufficient in the region. He said that there is a need to increase the production of Swadeshi toys. Hopefully, new ideas will come out of toys from Toycathon. In collaboration with the Ministry of Education, this toyathon will open new avenues for students of all schools, colleges and universities in the country.
