The demand for Erica Palm, Rapis Palm and Money Plant in nurseries has reached record levels. Experts say that with proper care, these plants not only make the house beautiful but also keep the air clean.
Faridabad: These days the level of pollution is continuously increasing in Faridabad. Due to dust, smoke and toxic particles dissolved in the air, it has become difficult for people to even breathe. In such a situation, people are adopting various measures to protect themselves. Along with wearing masks, people have now started planting more and more trees in their homes, so that the air in the house can be kept clean. For this reason, the demand for plants in the nurseries of the city has suddenly increased. Hundreds of plants are being sold every day in many nurseries and people are continuously buying plants to make their homes, offices and galleries green.
Demand for these plants has increased
Talking to Local18, Digambar Sharma, director of Heavens Green Nursery, Faridabad, says that the demand for plants has increased manifold in the last few months. His nursery is about 4 to 5 years old, but he has never seen such a craze before. He told that most people are buying Erica Palm, the price of which ranges from Rs 150 to Rs 250. Apart from this, there is also a lot of demand for Rapis Palm plant, the rate of which starts from Rs 250 and goes up to Rs 2000. The plant worth two hundred and fifty rupees is about one and a half feet tall, so people are taking it to keep inside the house.
What is the price of plants?
There is also good demand for money plant, Oxycodium money plant and chana dal form plant in nurseries. Money plant saplings start from Rs 250, while Oxycodium money plant is available for Rs 300. Chana dal form plant is available for 600 to 1200 rupees, whereas its small plant can be bought even for 150 rupees. Digambar Sharma says that it is difficult to calculate how many plants are sold in a day, because hundreds of plants are taken out of the nursery every day.
Right pot and soil are important
He says that the most important thing for planting a plant is the right pot and the soil to be put in the pot. The plant should be selected according to the size of the pot so that its growth remains correct. In the nursery, plants are prepared by mixing soil and manure in pots. In winter, plants should be watered only once a day. It is better to give vermicompost and DAP as fertilizers, whereas urea should not be used. Digambar Sharma says that if people handle plants properly, they not only make the house beautiful but also protect them from pollution to a great extent.
