COVID 19 Booster Doze Scam
Cybercriminals first call people and then introduce themselves as government employees. Criminals mostly call only senior citizens. After that ask him if he has got the vaccine twice. In many cases the caller already has all the user information. Then he also asks their name, age, address and other details to confirm. Sometimes frauds also tell the date of vaccination to appear real.
After that the caller asks you if you want to take the Kovid-19 vaccine booster dose. Do you want to book slot for this. After confirming the correct date and time for the dose, the cybercriminals ask about the OTP received on your mobile. From then only the true fraud starts. Actually OTP is done to transfer money from your bank account. When you give them the OTP information, the money is transferred from your bank account.
Take these steps to not fall prey to this scam
You should always keep in mind that the government does not book vaccine slots through phone calls. If you want to book slot for Kovid-19 Vaccine then you should visit http://cowin.gov.in. Apart from this, you can also do this through the Arogya Setu app. If you are not able to book a slot then you can take your dose by visiting the vaccination center with any government issued ID card.
You should always avoid the message which is accompanied by OTP. You should always read the message with OTP. If you cannot do this, then you can get it done by a sensible person in your family. This tells what code it is to be used for. Also you should not share OTP with anyone.
