Hyderabad Top 5 Colleges: These five historical colleges present in Hyderabad were established during the reign of Nizam and are still famous for their excellent education and magnificent heritage architecture. Nizam College 1887: Established during the reign of the sixth Nizam, Mir Mehboob Ali Khan, this institution is today an autonomous constituent of Osmania University. It has educated many dignitaries of the country including former President Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma.
Government City College 1929: Started as Madrasa Dar-ul-Uloom in 1865, this institution became a full-fledged college during the time of Nizam. Today it is affiliated with Osmania University and is famous for its cultural diversity where students speaking more than 17 languages study together.

Madrasa-e-Aliya 1872: Established by the princely state of Hyderabad, this institution still remains an important bridge between traditional Urdu, Persian, Arabic, Islamic studies and modern subjects.
St George’s Grammar School 1834: Although it is a school, its historical importance makes it included in the list. Established by British Resident Sir George Yule, it was one of the early centers of English education in Hyderabad and today functions as a prestigious day-boarding school.
