Animal Husbandry Tips: To increase the milk production capacity of animals, scientists have prepared a special ‘animal chocolate’, which when licked provides essential nutrients to the animal and increases the milk. But keep in mind that if animals eat it instead of licking it, then the risk to their digestive system may increase. Therefore, it is important to use it in the right way and with precautions.
Dr. Gaurav Pandey, veterinary scientist working at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Barasin, Sultanpur, said that if milch animals are fed special animal chocolate rich in nutrients, then their milk production capacity increases manifold. Many essential nutrients are added to this chocolate which improves the health of animals and increases both the quantity and quality of milk. Let us know how this nutritious chocolate is prepared.
Scientists of Krishi Vigyan Kendra Sultanpur, affiliated to Acharya Narendra Dev Agricultural University of Uttar Pradesh, have developed a special animal chocolate, which contains many types of nutritious elements. This chocolate is prepared completely scientifically and with the help of modern machines, so that the milch animals can get balanced and high quality nutrition.
Through this chocolate, milk production in dairy animals will be higher. Along with this, the conception and reproductive system of animals also improves significantly and the reproductive capacity of animals becomes stronger. Giving this chocolate to animals helps in their physical development because it contains high amount of protein.

Dr. Gaurav Pandey, veterinary scientist working at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Sultanpur, told Local-18 that this animal chocolate is actually Urea Molasses Mineral Block (UMMB), which is also called UMV in scientific language.
Animal chocolate should be used only for adult cows, buffaloes, sheep and goats. It should not be given to animals like horse, donkey, pig. At the same time, this chocolate should not be given to children below 6 months of age who chew cud. The thing to keep in mind is that never give this chocolate to animals on an empty stomach, because it can cause harm to them. Also animal chocolate should not be too soft.
According to Dr. Gaurav Pandey, animal chocolate is prepared from a mixture of many nutrients. Mineral mixture, wheat lime, bran and jaggery raab are added to it, making it an excellent source of energy and minerals for animals.
When animals lick chocolate, the urea released from it gets converted into nitrogen, which further produces protein. This protein plays an important role in increasing the physical capacity of animals, strengthening muscles and fighting many diseases.
Animal chocolate is mainly used to increase milk production in animals. It should be kept near the pit where the animals eat fodder, so that while eating the fodder they keep licking it with their tongue from time to time. However, some animals try to eat it instead of licking it. This chocolate should not be given to such animals, because if they eat it in one go, it can have a bad effect on their digestive system.
