With the increasing cold in Raipur, the crowd in the tea and coffee shops of Gol Chowk has increased. The sales of ‘Lalji Tea and Coffee House’, which has been famous for 20 years, have doubled this season. There is a constant flow of customers here from 5:30 in the morning to 11 at night. Tea and coffee are available for just Rs 10 and around 2000 cups are sold daily, due to which Dharmendra’s income has doubled.
Raipur. As the chill of December is increasing, the demand for hot drinks is also on the rise in the city. Especially Gol Chowk area has become one of the most popular places for tea and coffee lovers these days, where the shops lined up are constantly crowded with customers from morning till late night. In this context, ‘Lalji Tea and Coffee House’, which has been a part of people’s taste for 20 years, is in the news these days. Shop operator Dharmendra says that the cold has almost doubled his daily sales this season.
According to Dharmendra, his shop remains open from 5:30 am to 11 pm and people from different sections come here to enjoy tea and coffee throughout the day. People going for morning walks, exercising in the park and playing cricket do not forget to stop here for refreshment. As the evening approaches, college students, office employees and nearby residents are seen enjoying the shopkeeper’s many years old recipes while sipping tea and coffee.
Quality maintained, tea and coffee both at just Rs 10 per cup
Dharmendra says that even though the cold has increased their sales, they have maintained their quality over the years. Both tea and coffee are available in the shop for just Rs 10 per cup. The special thing is that water is not added to coffee, due to which its taste becomes even denser and better. This is the reason why people not only from nearby but also from far away places come here just to drink coffee.
It’s been 20 years since I started the shop, the taste is still the same
Dharmendra recalls that when he started the shop two decades ago, both tea and coffee were available for just Rs 5 per cup. Prices have increased with time, but the quality taste is still the same, which has kept people connected to this shop over the years.
Demand increased as the weather became cold, earnings also good
During these cold days, about 1000 cups of tea and 1000 cups of coffee are being sold at the shop every day. This number is almost double compared to other seasons. Dharmendra says that this season is the busiest and best time for him in terms of earnings. These days the atmosphere of Gol Chowk has become a meeting place for tea and coffee lovers. The increasing cold, the aroma of tea and the thick taste of coffee together give an experience which makes this season even more special.
