Talking to Local 18, Dr. Inderjit Verma (MVSC Mathura), Veterinary Officer, Government Veterinary Hospital, Shivgarh, Rae Bareli district, who has 25 years of experience in the field of animal husbandry, said that poultry farming farmers can double their income by rearing Japanese quail instead of chicken, because there is a lot of demand for Japanese quail in the markets. Besides, it gets ready in a very short time and gives good profits.
Giving further information, he says that female quail produces about 300 eggs in a year, which is quite different in comparison to chickens. Its meat ranges from Rs 500 to Rs 600. And in 35 days its weight increases from 180 grams to 200 grams.

1.Rapid Growth: Quails start laying eggs in 5-6 weeks. Also, it is ready for sale in 6-7 weeks.
