US Venezuela Tension: America has seized an oil tanker in the sea near the coast of Venezuela. This action took place under the oil blockade policy of the Trump administration. Venezuela called it piracy, while Iran announced support. America says that it will continue to increase pressure to stop the illegal supply of banned oil.
America has taken another big step as part of its strategy to increase pressure on Venezuela. On Saturday, American security forces stopped an oil tanker at sea near the Venezuelan coast and took it into custody. This action has taken place at a time when the Donald Trump administration has announced a so-called blockade on banned oil tankers belonging to Venezuela. According to American officials, this is the second time this month that America has stopped a ship near Venezuela. Brazil has warned on this incident. Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva said on Saturday that armed intervention in Venezuela would be a humanitarian disaster, given the growing US crackdown on neighboring Venezuela.
In a pre-dawn action early this morning on Dec. 20, the US Coast Guard with the support of the Department of War apprehended an oil tanker that was last docked in Venezuela.
