Kolkata. Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar said on Saturday that at present politics is increasingly dominating the economy. Jaishankar was addressing the gathering after receiving the honorary degree of ‘Doctorate’ on the campus of IIM-Calcutta here. He said, ‘This is an era in which politics is becoming dominant over the economy… and this is no joke.’ Jaishankar also said that China has ‘done things by its own rules for a long time’ and is still doing so. The External Affairs Minister said that in this situation, other countries are unclear whether the focus should be on the competition or bargaining that is being seen.
