Abhaya Brigade will be formed on the orders of DGP in Bhojpur district. The SP of the district said that under the leadership of women police, this team will work for the safety of school and college girls and to stop crimes against women. Its complete blueprint has been prepared. Very soon, Abhaya Brigade will be launched in the district.
Bhojpur: Bihar Police has taken a big step regarding women’s safety. After the order of DGP, now ‘Abhaya Brigade’ is being formed in all the districts of the state. In the same sequence, preparations have been started in Bhojpur district also. This brigade will ensure the safety of women and girls on roads, schools, colleges and public places.
SP Raj informed that very soon Abhaya Brigade will be launched in Bhojpur district. The command of this special police team will be in the hands of women policemen. Whereas male constables will also be deployed with them. In every police station, a sub-inspector level woman officer will be made in-charge. A team of three policemen will work under him. In which there will be one female and two male constables.
The objective of this brigade is to curb crimes against women like rape, molestation, kidnapping and chain snatching. This team will not only help in crime control. Rather, it will also spread awareness in the society regarding women’s safety.
Review will be done at headquarters level in 15 days
The progress and work of Abhaya Brigade will be reviewed at the headquarters level every 15 days. This team will work in both rural and urban police stations. The committee will be kept under the supervision of the concerned police station chiefs. All necessary resources will be made available from the district level. Brigade members will be given bikes and scooters for touring. So that they can reach the needy places immediately.
Hotspot areas will be marked
Considering the geographical location of the police station area, hotspot areas will be marked around schools, colleges, hostels, coaching institutes and public places. The team will remain present in these areas in plain clothes or uniform and keep a watch on suspicious persons. Will identify the miscreants and take action. Apart from this, the team members will also meet the school and college administration, women’s hostel wardens and coaching operators and give information about safety measures and dial 112 to the girl students. They will also take the cooperation of local women’s groups in identifying hotspots.
Team briefing before the campaign in the police station premises
Before any operation, the team’s briefing will be done in the police station premises. Private individuals will not be included in this campaign. At the same time, if any negligence or disregard for orders is found, the concerned officers will be held responsible. According to SP Raj, Abhaya Brigade will bring a big change in the safety of women. This is not just a police operation, but a step towards strengthening the feeling of living without fear in the society.
