Many farmers say that by cultivating Khesari Saag in one bigha, they start getting good profits in just 4 to 5 months. He says that the demand for this green vegetable increases significantly during the winter season. Its consumption helps in eliminating the problem of anemia. Due to the sufficient amount of protein in it, its demand remains high in the market.
According to the information, about 1 acre of land is sprayed with 30 kg of Khesari seeds mixed with fertilizer and pesticides. After this, there is no need for much care and the crop is ready in about 130 days. Its yield can be 4 to 5 quintals in one acre. The improved varieties of Khesari Saag developed by agricultural scientists are Ratan and Pratik, which have been made available to the farmers by the government.

It is advisable for the farmers to cultivate only the suggested improved varieties, so that they can get more profits. The specialty of Khesari Saag is that it gives good yields in every condition, hence it is also known as “insurance crop”.
Khesari Saag is cultivated between October and November. Weeding and weed control is necessary 35 days after sowing. If it is to be taken as a fodder crop, then it should be harvested after 50 percent flowering stage. By the end of March the crop is completely ready for harvesting.
