Here people come and take bath in this pond and perform Samadhi puja at the adjacent monastery. Let us know what is the story of this pond.
While talking to Local 18, Buchi Singh, sitting at the monastery, says that this Pokhara is about 250 years old. This Pokhara has been built with the blessings of Baba Ghanshyam Das. People believe that Baba Ghanshyam Das was born in Chak Jafri near the hut here, but he went to Govind Shah in his childhood itself. Started staying at his place there, but on the instructions of Govind Shah, he returned to his village. In his early days, Baba used to graze cows in the forests here. His mother used to take lunch herself. Meanwhile, one day after lunch he felt lack of water. It was very difficult for them to get water on time in the dense forest.
Removing one lump created a whole pond
When Ghanshyam Baba’s mother went to the pond to get water, the pond was dry. She had just turned towards the village when Baba told her not to go to the village, but to remove a lump from this dry pond. As soon as his mother removed a lump from the pond, the pond was filled with cool water. Then Baba Ghanshyam Das quenched his thirst with water from this pond and as the generations grew, this pond gradually expanded. This pond was once dried up to make stairs around it and since then it has never dried up till today.
The pond was named ‘Patal Lok’
This pond has been named Patal Lok, where people from big cities like Mau, Azamgarh, Ballia, Ghazipur and Varanasi come to take bath in the pond and people worship at the Samadhi of Baba Ghanshyam Das built next to this pond and fulfill their wishes. People believe that sea water has also been mixed in this pond, which has further increased the importance of this pond. The statue of Lord Vishnu has been installed in the middle of this pond. The first rays of the sun fall on this statue and people go here from morning till evening to take bath and worship.
