Those whose properties were earlier on the main road will now be considered on the main main road. Due to this they will have to pay more property tax. Under the new system, tax will be determined on the basis of the category of the road.

Roads more than 40 feet wide have been categorized as major main roads. Roads 20 to 40 feet wide are categorized as main roads and roads less than 20 feet wide are categorized as other roads.
Holding tax slab will increase
Many main roads have been included in the category of major roads. Due to this, the holding tax of properties along these roads will increase. For example, currently holding tax is being collected at the rate of Rs 12 per square foot from residential buildings located on the main road and Rs 36 per square foot from commercial buildings. But as soon as the road is upgraded, new rates will be applicable, under which tax on residential buildings will be Rs 18 per square foot and commercial buildings will have to pay Rs 54 per square foot.
