Agra. Sur Sarovar Bird Sanctuary is the second most liked destination in Agra after Taj Mahal. These days thousands of foreign birds have come knocking here. People from all over the world are coming here to see the foreign guests. A celebration of nature is taking place in Keetham Lake located in Runkata. This place has become a center of attraction due to the sound of thousands of birds coming here from distant countries. This year, guests like Rosy Pelican, Dalmatian Pelican, Painted Stock, Darter, Northern Sobbler, Wisling Teal, Com Duck, Palash Gulls, Black-necked Stock Gray Horn, Sarus Crane, Bar-headed Goose have arrived at Sur Sarovar Bird Sanctuary, Keetham Lake. Forest Range Officer of Sur Sarovar Bird Sanctuary, Ankit Yadav, says that native and foreign birds like Rosy Pelican, Dalmatian Pelican, Painted Stock, Darter, Northern Sobbler, Vishing Teal, Com Duck, Palash Gulls, Black-necked Stock Gray Horn, Sarus Crane, Bar-headed Goose have arrived here. The tourists coming to see the birds are very happy. Coming here, we capture their pictures on our phones. The area officer said that flamingos will also start landing on the lake in the next few days. Bar-headed geese, considered the world’s highest flying species, are seen on the lake’s islands in search of grass and aquatic plants.
Strict steps are being taken
Forest Range Officer Ankit Yadav said that special care is being taken of foreign birds here. Security for the birds is tight. Patrolling has been increased around the lake. To prevent excessive noise, there is a ban on loud vehicles, loud music and horns. Tourists are allowed to watch birds only from Tower 1, while Tower numbers 2, 3 and 4 are currently closed. The water level of the lake has been reduced by the Irrigation Department to increase natural food for migratory birds. When the water recedes, islands emerge within the lake, due to which these places become the main basis for rest and food. Grass, insects, aquatic plants and fish are found in abundance on these islands, due to which large groups of thousands of birds stay here.
