Stock Market Today: The second trading session of the week in the Indian stock market on Tuesday, December 9, had a negative start to the trading day. Major benchmark indices BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty 50 opened trading in the red.
The 30-share BSE Sensex index opened at 84,742.87 points, down 359.82 points or 0.42 percent, while the NSE Nifty 50 opened at 25,867.10, down 93.45 points or 0.36 percent.
By around 9:20 am, the Sensex was trading at 84,630 points, down by 472 points, while the Nifty 50 was trading at 25,835, down 124 points.

How was the market on Monday?
On Monday, December 8, there was a huge decline in the Indian stock market and both the major benchmark indices closed trading in the red. Sensex fell by 609.68 points or 0.71 percent to 85,102.69 points, while NSE Nifty 50 slipped by 225.90 points or 0.86 percent and ended the trading day at 25,960.55.
Tech Mahindra, HCL Tech, Reliance and HDFC Bank were the top gainers from the BSE basket. Talking about the top losers, Eternal, Trent, Tata Steel, Adani Port and Bajaj Finance were.
Shares of Nifty IT, Nifty Auto, Nifty FMCG, Nifty 100, Nifty Smallcap 100 and Nifty Bank closed trading in the red. On Monday’s trading day, 4 shares from BSE basket closed in the green and 26 shares recorded a decline.
