Sunni Waqf Board Chairman Zufar Farooqui said that a large number of stakeholders, mutawallis and institutions related to Waqf from across the state are uploading their documents on the Umeed portal. But due to technical challenges, time taken in compiling the documents and many Waqf committees not being able to complete the process within the time limit, the Board had sought extension of time from the Waqf Tribunal.
Lucknow: Waqf mutawallis of the entire state including the capital Lucknow have got a big relief. Taking an important decision, on the request of Uttar Pradesh Sunni Central Waqf Board, the Waqf Tribunal has extended the last date of registration on Umeed portal by six months. The pre-determined last date for registration on this portal related to registration of Waqf properties and matters related to them was 6 December 2025. But accepting the request made by the Board to extend the deadline, now this date has been extended till June 5, 2026.
Relief from Waqf Tribunal
Sunni Waqf Board Chairman Zufar Farooqui said that a large number of stakeholders, mutawallis and institutions related to Waqf from across the state are uploading their documents on the Umeed portal. But due to technical challenges, time taken in compiling the documents and many Waqf committees not being able to complete the process within the time limit, the Board had sought extension of time from the Waqf Tribunal. He said that the Waqf Tribunal has provided relief by accepting this demand, for which the Sunni Waqf Board appreciates it.
Only 76 thousand could be registered
Zufar Farooqui also said that till now only 76,000 waqfs out of 124,000 had been registered on the Umeed portal. Registration is an important step towards protection, transparency and streamlined management of Waqf properties. Through this, accurate records of all the Waqf properties of the state are being prepared, so that any kind of dispute, encroachment or misuse can be prevented in future. Farooqui appealed to all the mutawallis and related institutions to complete their registration process as soon as possible by utilizing the additional time received.
6 month registration campaign
Zufar Farooqui thanked the Waqf Tribunal. He said that this is very important in the interest of the Waqf community. With the extension of time, more and more people will get the opportunity to submit their documents completely, which will further strengthen the Waqf system. All the employees and Mutavalli of the Waqf Board will launch a fresh campaign within 6 months to get every property registered.
