In Shimla, Director of School Education Ashish Kohli banned teaching through guides or helpbooks in government schools, now only NCERT books will be valid, action will be taken against violations.
Shimla. The Education Department has banned teachers of government schools in Himachal Pradesh from teaching using guides or helpbooks. Now action will be taken against teaching from helpbooks in classes. School Education Director Ashish Kohli has issued orders in this regard. This step has been taken for quality in education.
In the orders issued by the Director, it has been said that now there will be a complete ban on carrying helpbooks in the classes, if any teacher violates these orders then disciplinary action will be taken against them.
Head teachers and principals of schools have been authorized to follow the orders. In the orders issued by the Directorate, school heads have been asked to conduct surprise inspections in the classrooms. If any teacher is found using the guide, then action will be taken against him and the directorate will also have to be informed about it. Instructions have also been given to the Deputy Directors of all the districts in this regard.
District officials have also been instructed to conduct surprise inspections of schools. In the instructions issued by the Education Department, it has been said that now only NCERT books will be valid for studies in the class. Complaints were received from some schools in this regard that teachers are teaching students from guides or helpbooks, which is against the rules, this affects the students’ ability to understand. No new understanding is developed from the helpbook.
School Education Director Ashish Kohli said that there were such complaints in many schools, even before this instructions were issued but it was violated at many places but the department will act strictly on this. He said that the aim of education is to develop the ability to think, understand and ask questions in children, this ability is affected by helpbooks.
