Fake Dew cold drink was caught in Vivek Traders Company near Mandi intersection. The interrogation of Vivek Agarwal, owner of Vivek Traders Company, is going on. Also, a sample of the detected fake cold drink is being taken and sent for testing.
Action taken on complaint of PepsiCo India Limited
Mathura Food Safety and Drug Administration (FSDA) department has seized a huge cache of duplicate ‘Mountain Dew’ cold drink in Mathura on the complaint of PepsiCo India Limited. A mobile team formed on the instructions of the Commissioner, Food Safety and Drug Administration, Uttar Pradesh, and the District Magistrate conducted a surprise raid on three business establishments located in the Mandi intersection area.
Duplicate Mountain Dew found in raid
The team also included local police and representatives of PepsiCo. During the raid, Lokesh Traders, M.S. A total of 175 boxes of 400 ml duplicate Mountain Dew were recovered from firms named Traders and Pawan Traders. This fake cold drink was being sold in the name of Mountain Dew brand, which was posing a threat to the health of the consumers and was also seriously affecting the sales of the company.
Investigation and legal action
The Food Department seized all the 175 boxes of cold drinks recovered with immediate effect. Additionally, duplicate product samples have been collected from the three firms and sent to the laboratory for analysis. After the report comes, further strict legal action will be taken. In this case, the representative of PepsiCo India Limited has filed a First Information Report (FIR) against the concerned food traders at the Police Station Highway, Mathura on charges of fraud and selling counterfeit products. This action has created a stir among those involved in the business of fake food items in the district.
