Kolkata. West Bengal Police has warned and said that action will be taken if the murder of Dipu Chandra Das in Bangladesh is linked to the murder of father and son named Hargobindo and Chandan Das in Murshidabad, West Bengal. West Bengal Police says that efforts are being made to draw a comparison between the recent murder of Dipu Chandra Das in Bangladesh and the tragic death of father-son named Hargobindo and Chandan Das in Murshidabad about 8 months ago. Police are keeping an eye on those who post such posts on social media.
Police have said that legal action will be taken against such people. Along with this, the police has appealed to the common people to stay away from such rumours. West Bengal Police wrote on social media platform Such comparisons are extremely inflammatory, misleading based on facts and aimed at disturbing public order.
Police said that 13 accused were immediately arrested in the Murshidabad case and a charge sheet has also been filed in the case. The decision of this case is expected to come soon. Comparing this with the incidents in Bangladesh is just a dishonest attempt to spread communal mistrust, while the law is doing its job.
West Bengal Police said that it is committed to maintaining the old traditions of communal harmony in the state and will adopt a zero tolerance policy on any attempt to disturb it. Social media handles spreading inflammatory and misinformation are being monitored. Strict legal action will be taken against those who try to give communal color to criminal incidents. Citizens are appealed not to pay attention to rumours.
In Bangladesh, Dipu Chandra Das was beaten to death by a mob on charges of blasphemy and later his body was set on fire. At the same time, on April 12 this year, Govind Das (72), who ran a breakfast shop in Murshidabad, and his 40-year-old son were killed in the violence. A group of people opposing the Waqf law took both of them out of the shop and beat them brutally, due to which they died.
