Ashish Kumar/West Champaran: Valmiki Tiger Reserve (VTR) is making tourists so happy these days that people could only imagine. People going to the Tiger Reserve must be hoping that they will actually get a chance to see the Tiger. People get to see deer and sloth bear, but they rarely get a chance to see a tiger. However, currently tourists are seeing tigers during safari in various ranges of VTR spread over about 900 square kilometers. Sightings of tiger as well as deer and sloth bear are considered very rare and make the day. Among these, seeing the Royal Bengal Tiger and the Black Leopard is even more special.
Recently, a similar video is going viral on social media, in which tourists are able to see the tiger and black leopard very closely during the safari. It is being claimed on social media that this video of sighting is from Valmiki Tiger Reserve located in West Champaran district of Bihar. However, Local 18 does not confirm this.
Let us tell you that Valmiki Tiger Reserve, bordering Chitwan National Park of Nepal, is divided into two divisions. While Division 1 includes Manguraha, Govardhana and Raghiya ranges, Division 2 includes Madanpur, Valmiki Nagar, Ganauli, Chiutahan and Harnatand ranges. The interesting thing is that dozens of species of wild animals live in all these ranges. If we talk about the entire forest of VTR, it is home to about 60 species of mammals, about 40 species of reptiles and more than 300 species of birds.
Wildlife experts say that the biodiversity of VTR is so intense that the presence of many wild animals like King Cobra, Indian Gaur, Black Leopard, Dhol (wild dog), Striped Hyena, Himalayan Serow (mountain climbing goat), Garuda, Flying Squirrel and Indian Wolf has been recorded in it. During jungle safari, tourists get a chance to see all these wild animals. The activities of wildlife increase in winter, hence this season is considered very special for jungle safari.
