Often this problem occurs due to some small mistakes or slight change in weather. In such a situation, there is a direct impact on the income of farmers. But the good thing is that there is no need to panic in this situation. Agricultural experts believe that by filling the gap properly after the first irrigation, farmers can save their production and also keep the crop number balanced.
Why is there problem of low compaction in wheat?
Dr. NP Gupta, agricultural expert of Krishi Vigyan Kendra Niyamatpur, says that the crop of the farmers who have sown wheat in the first week of November is now completely ready for the first irrigation. Many times, despite good preparation by the farmers, seed accumulation is not possible due to the time of sowing or the influence of weather. Due to this, the number of plants in the field is less visible. But after the first irrigation is completed, farmers can improve production by filling the empty space.
After the first irrigation, when there is light moisture in the field, then it is the right time for gap filling. Farmers should first mark the empty space in the field. After this, make a light groove with the help of a spade or a pointed iron. Put one seed each in this groove and sow it. This will increase the number of plants in the field and there will be no negative impact on production. The seeds sown now will be ready along with the other plants in March and April. Due to this, the crop remains capable of being harvested simultaneously and the farmer gets a good yield.

Keep these things in mind while gap filling
While filling the gap, farmers should pay special attention to one important thing. While filling the empty space in the field, use only the same variety of seeds sown earlier. By doing this there will be no adulteration in the produce. Although in some cases the grain may shrink slightly, it will not have a major impact on the quality and production of the crop.
Many farmers also sow wheat for seed production, so it becomes even more important to use seeds of the same variety.
