Sitamarhi: The education department in Sitamarhi is once again in the dock. A shocking case has come to light of a teacher posted in the middle school Basaul Urdu of Bajpatti block, fraudulently collecting his salary in the name of deputation without coming to school for 20 days. As soon as this irregularity was detected during the inspection of BEO, there was a stir in the department. During initial investigation, it became clear that the teachers were not only continuously absent, but were also trying to cheat the system by making fake deputation letters.
pole exposed during inspection
The matter came to light when Block Education Officer (BEO) Abhay Kumar arrived to inspect the school on Monday. A total of nine teachers were shown on deputation in the school. Three of whom were on leave. During inspection, BEO found that teacher Sarvesh Kumar was not coming to school continuously since 18 November 2025. This was the first sign that something was wrong.
No record of teacher’s attendance
When the BEO investigated the deputation order of Sarvesh Kumar, a big revelation came to light. The deputation order submitted by the teacher was found suspicious. Sarvesh had claimed that he has been deputed for election work in Bajpatti block office. However, when this was confirmed in the block office, it was found that no such order or letter number had ever been issued. The employees of the block office also clearly said that Sarvesh Kumar was not seen in the office any day. It is noteworthy that the election and counting work has ended long ago. Preparations for MLC elections have also started, but no record of the teacher’s attendance was found.
Question on authenticity of letter
Making the matter more serious, the school principal Noor Alam presented a deputation letter. In which deputation of two teachers including Sarvesh Kumar was shown. This letter was dated letter number 96, 18 November 2025. But investigation revealed that this letter was not recorded in any register of the block office. This raised a big question on the authenticity of the letter. Departmental sources say that the case clearly indicates taking deputation with the help of fake documents and remaining absent from school.
Show cause notice issued
BEO Abhay Kumar said that considering the seriousness of the matter, a show cause notice is being issued to the teacher concerned. If the teacher’s answer is not satisfactory, departmental action is certain. The Education Department is considering this matter as a serious case of teacher indiscipline. It has been indicated that if found guilty, action ranging from withholding of salary to suspension is possible. This incident has once again exposed the irregularities prevalent in the deputation process. The need to increase transparency and accountability in the education system has been underlined.
