The Collegium said that the IB has objected to Sathyan’s social media post. However, it has also been added that he has a good personal and professional reputation and nothing adverse has been found regarding his integrity. It said Sathyan belonged to the Christian community and the IB report said he had no political leanings. In view of this, the Collegium is of the considered opinion that R.K. John Sathyan is fit to be appointed as a judge of the Madras High Court. Therefore, the Collegium reiterates its recommendation dated February 16, 2022, for his appointment.

The collegium said that when it first recommended the elevation of Sathyan as a judge, all the advisory judges – Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul, Justice Indira Banerjee (now retired), Justice V.
