Thiruvananthapuram. A painful family dispute took another life on Monday in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. According to the police, 28-year-old youth Hridvik was hit on the head with an iron rod by his father, after which he struggled between life and death for about one and a half months in the hospital. However, his life could not be saved.
The incident took place on October 9 at their home in Vanchiyoor, when a dispute escalated between father and son over a luxury car. This time Hridvik had asked for a car from his father who had already bought an expensive motorcycle. According to the police, when the father refused to fulfill this demand, the dispute turned violent and the son attacked the father. Meanwhile, in self-defence, the father attacked with an iron rod lying nearby, which proved fatal.
Hridvik was admitted to the Government Medical College Hospital with serious head injuries, where he died on Monday. Neighbors and family members told the police that Hridvik was unemployed for a long time and often demanded expensive items from his parents. If his demands were not met, he would become violent in anger. Police also said that the family suspected that he was a drug abuser and was suffering from some mental-behavioral problems since childhood.
On the day of the incident, immediately after the attack, the father was arrested and sent to judicial custody. Now after the death of his son, the sections registered against him in this case may become more serious. The incident highlights the tragedy of a family where misunderstandings, pressure and uncontrolled anger combined to create a situation that destroyed two lives – one in the form of death and the other between the walls of jail.
