People always keep the most beautiful places in the world in their travel bucket list, like Maldives, Switzerland or Jammu and Kashmir. But do you know, there are some places in this world where it is strictly prohibited to even go near them, let alone step into them? These places are considered so mysterious, dangerous or extremely safe that entry of common people is completely banned here. Today we are going to introduce you to such unique places, knowing about which you will be surprised.
Sertsey, Iceland
Certsey is a volcanic island that suddenly emerged in the Atlantic Ocean between 1963 and 1967. Ever since its construction, the entry of common people here is completely banned. Only selected scientists are allowed to set foot on the island with special permission, while common people can see it only from the air, in small aircraft. This restriction has been imposed so that the natural environment of the island can be protected without any human interference. In 2008, UNESCO declared Certsey a World Heritage Site in view of its scientific importance. In simple language, tourism is completely closed here and it is considered one of the most protected and controlled research areas in the world.
Ilha da Quemada Grande (Snake Island), Brazil
A small island located near Sao Paulo, Brazil is famous all over the world for its dangerous nature. It is known as ‘Snake Island’, and entry of common people is completely banned here. The reason for this ban is the extremely poisonous and rare species living here, the Golden Lancehead Viper. This snake is found only on this island in the world. The venom of the golden lancehead viper is so poisonous that if it bites a person even once, the chances of the person’s survival are very less. Apart from this, the number of snakes on this island is so high that it is almost certain to encounter them as soon as you step here. For the safety of the people and to conserve this rare species, the Brazilian government has completely stopped the general public from visiting here. Only selected scientists, with special permission, are allowed to go here for research under strict security rules.
The Golden Lancehead Viper is such a poisonous snake that if it bites a human once, the human cannot survive.
Area 51, United States of America (USA)
Area 51, located in the middle of the desolate desert of Nevada, is counted among the most secret military bases in the world. It is controlled by the US Air Force, where new types of fighter aircraft, weapons and secret technologies are tested. Its security is so tight that even at a great distance from the base, high-tech surveillance systems, motion sensors and warning boards are installed, which clearly state that any kind of intrusion is completely prohibited here. Not only the land, but also the airspace above it is declared a no-fly zone. Due to strict national security and secrecy, common citizens cannot even step here. For this reason, Area 51 is included among the most mysterious, discussed and completely kept away from the public places in the world.
