Why did Bengali families build huts here?
Local residents say that the climate of Madhupur in Deoghar city is exactly like Shimla and Manali. Here the cool breeze of morning and evening and the calm atmosphere attracts the tourists. For this reason, the chambers of everyone from the former Chief Minister of Bengal to the Chief Justice of Bengal were once located here.
Walls broken, memories saved
Many old bungalows in and around Madhupur Station Road are now standing in a dilapidated condition. There was a time when there was echo of laughter in their verandahs. Being a part of Bengal province, Madhupur and Deoghar were among the favorite resting places of Bengali tourists, but neglect and the ravages of time gradually destroyed this glorious tradition. The biggest reason for the deteriorating condition of these historical bungalows is lack of attention to their maintenance over the years. With time the tradition weakened and people gradually moved away from their ancestral properties. At many places, structures started collapsing due to irregular use and negligence.
