It’s fun just to think of someone telling you, “Just lie on the bed, don’t do anything.” It will seem as if this is the easiest task in the world! But wait… in China, when this ‘seemingly comfortable’ work was made a real challenge, the situation became such that the fun ended and the difficulties began! A mattress manufacturing company organized such a contest for promotion that people asked – “Can you really win just by lying down?” But as soon as the game started, everyone realized that lying down, as easy as it may seem, is actually a very ‘breaking’ task. At first glance this match seems easy, but in reality it was the strangest test of patience, endurance and intelligence. The work we do every day, lying down, had become the biggest challenge here, and this challenge shocked not only China but people all over the world!
Actually, this competition was organized in a shopping center in Baoto city of Inner Mongolia, China. The aim of the company was to promote its mattress, but the method was so interesting that within no time the event went viral on social media. The name of the competition was Lying Flat Competition.

A total of 240 people came to this competition, but in just one day, 186 contestants were eliminated because everyone got up to smoke!
23 year old youth became champion after surviving for 33 hours 35 minutes
Hours passed and contestants were slowly eliminated. At the end of 33 hours only 3 people were left. According to South China Morning Post, the organizers increased the difficulty and said – Now even the hands and legs will have to be kept raised in the air! The one who could do this for the longest time would become the champion. In the end only a 23 year old young man was left who did not give up for the entire 33 hours and 35 minutes. According to SCMP, he told – “My girlfriend sent me the link and said that try it, you will win. I felt like leaving midway, but she gave me courage.”

The winners received cash prizes-
1st Prize – 3000 Yuan (approximately ₹37,000)
2nd Prize – 2000 Yuan (approximately ₹28,000)
3rd Prize – 1000 Yuan (approximately ₹14,000)
The winner said- ‘I will feed hotpot dinner to my friends with this money. He kept coming to meet me from time to time and also kept bringing food. According to SCMP, the live streaming of this competition attracted 1 crore viewers and about 80 lakh comments.
