Rajmata Pratima Manjari Devi, the last queen of the Chandela dynasty of Gidhaur, had passed away recently. People also fondly called Pratibha Manjari Devi as Bhabhi and she breathed her last in a private hospital in Kolkata. Pratibha Manjari Devi is known among the people for her works.
Gidhaur in Jamui district was once ruled by the Chandela dynasty. Apart from Gidhaur, the Chandela dynasty also expanded in the surrounding areas and this dynasty was known for its prosperity. There were many glorious rulers here who developed the area a lot during their time.
Even today, the fort of Chandela dynasty is present in Gidhaur which bears testimony to that period. Lord Minto Tower built at Gidhaur Chowk also testifies to the prosperity of that period. The rulers of the Chandela dynasty built it to welcome the British Viceroy Lord Minto during his visit. But then when democracy was established in India, the Chandela dynasty was also merged.
During the year 1950, when the Chandela kingdom of Gidhaur was merged, Maharaja Bahadur Pratap Singh was sitting on the throne of the Chandela dynasty. His wife Pratibha Manjari Singh was the last queen of this dynasty, who was also the last queen mother of this regime. Although the rulers of Chandela dynasty still come here, but now the monarchy has ended. Maharaja Bahadur Pratap Singh was the 25th ruler of this dynasty. He assumed the throne at the age of just 3 years after the death of his father Maharaja Bahadur Chandrachud Singh.

Maharani Pratibha Manjari Singh was born in Orissa. He was born on 21 July 1934 in the royal family of Mayurbhanj, Orissa. His father Maharaj Late. Maharaja Bahadur Pratap Singh and mother Maharani Prema Kumari got her married to Maharaja Bahadur Pratap Singh of Gidhaur. They had three daughters and one son. They had a daughter, Princess Shruti Kumari, who later became the queen of Manda. The second daughter, Princess Pramiti Manjari Devi, married Rana Umesh Chandra Singh of Janiyadara. Whereas the name of his third daughter was Princess Prakriti Manjari Devi.
They also had a son whose name was Maharaja Bahadur Rajrajeshwar Prasad Singh. Who became the heir of the Chandela dynasty of Gidhaur after the death of his father. Maharaja Bahadur Pratap Singh died in 2012, while the last Maharani Pratibha Manjari Devi died in 2025. Maharani Pratibha Manjari Devi had done many works in public interest. He had done many notable works in the field of women’s education during his rule.
