Positive News: There is continuous emphasis on clean energy i.e. green energy in the country and the world. It is also called renewable energy, which means a source of energy that will never end. This does not cause any pollution. Solar energy is its big and important source.
Amreli. Dudhala village located in Amreli district of Gujarat is now known for its solar energy revolution in the entire state. This village of Lathi taluka, which has a population of more than 2000, has more than 400 houses which are now lit by solar power. For the last three years, the electricity bill of the people of this village has been zero and the credit for this goes to Surat industrialist Govindbhai Dholakia. Inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s campaign to promote alternative energy, Govindbhai Dholakia got a free solar system installed in every house.
Earlier the villagers used to pay Rs 1000 to Rs 1500 every month for electricity bill. Many people used to reduce the use of fan, light or fridge due to the fear of expensive bills, but ever since solar system was installed in every house, people are running all their electric appliances without any hesitation and still the bill comes to zero. This change is clearly visible in people’s lives. Ashokbhai Shelia, a resident of the village, says that the solar system has solved the electricity problem of the entire village. Earlier the electricity expenses in our village were very high. Now we can use electricity without any worries. It has now become easier for children to use study lights, refrigerator and fan at home.
How much to save every month?
Villager Jairaj Brar says that a one kilowatt solar system has been installed in his house. Earlier he had to spend around Rs 1000 to 1500 every month on electricity bill, but now his bill is zero. Due to this the financial condition of the house has also improved. Local elder Purushottambhai Brar says that there is no village like ours in the whole of Gujarat. Here every house is getting the benefit of solar energy. We have also benefited a lot from this. In Dudhala village, not only houses, but also gram panchayat, chaupal, school and temple are now running on solar energy. Due to this, the electricity expenditure of the entire village has become zero and people have now become self-reliant in terms of energy. This village has now become an example for everyone that how by proper use of solar energy one can get rid of electricity bills and the people of rural areas can become economically strong.
How beneficial for the economy?
There is a possibility of expansion in the economy by promoting solar energy. For example, if people save, they will spend that money somewhere. In this way, while the economy gets a boost, the common people also benefit from the scheme. If full advantage of the subsidy given by the government is taken, then every village can be made a solar village like a milk farm. This will not only save electricity in rural areas, but will also reduce the financial burden on the people. Moving towards solar energy is beneficial for both the rural economy and standard of living.
