Chamba. The wedding guests came from one side and the groom from the other side. The Sukhu government has not been able to open the road for one and a half years and the problems of the people are continuously increasing. The matter is of Dalhousie, Chamba, Himachal Pradesh.
According to the information, Sherpur-Chowhra road of Dalhousie assembly constituency is closed for the last one and a half year and due to this the local people are facing a lot of trouble. Due to the closure of this route, not only the traffic has come to a standstill, but the normal life is also being badly affected. Due to non-availability of bus service on the alternative route left for the people after the closure of the road, people have to resort to taxi or private vehicle.
Economically weak villagers are forced to walk through dangerous walking paths along the banks of the Ravi river. This problem becomes more serious at night—darkness, bad roads and on top of that, the fear of wild animals keeps people in panic all the time. When someone falls ill, it becomes difficult to reach the hospital on time.
In situations like marriage, the problems increase further. A similar situation was seen during a wedding yesterday. The groom Pankaj Thakur told that due to the closure of the road, his wedding procession has been divided into two parts. He himself reached Banikhet in a small vehicle through an alternative narrow route, but the wedding procession had to travel 30 kilometers and reach by bus from the other side. He urged the government to restore this route as soon as possible so that people do not have to face such troubles.
The wedding procession had to travel 30 kilometers to reach the other side by bus.
Local people said that this road has been closed for one and a half years and has made life difficult. Children have to cross the bad road at 6 in the morning so that they can reach school on time. Due to lack of bus facility, one has to take taxi every time, which is a big burden for poor families. There is always a risk of accidents and wild animals while crossing the bridge on foot. The biggest problem is that when people go to the departments for solution, PWD says that this route belongs to NHPC and NHPC says that it is a PWD issue. The public is suffering in this misleading situation.
Minister Vikramaditya Singh had given assurance
Public Works Minister Vikramaditya Singh, who visited Chamba a few days ago, had assured to solve this problem, but till now the road has not been restored and the problems of the people remain the same. It should be noted that the closure of Sherpur-Chauhada road is like breaking the lifeline for the local people. Now people have hope from the government and responsible departments that their problems will soon be restored by restoring this important route.
